I have to apologize to all of you - this was originally sent out on Monday, but due to "technical difficulties" it never actually went anywhere - I know it's now short notice to those of you who were not previously aware, but I'm hoping you can attend our first PTO meeting tonight:
Hi Everyone - Here we go!! Please mark these dates on your calendars - they are the PTO meetings for the coming year. They sometimes change, but I will contact everyone in that case.
Thurs, Sept 11 Wed, Oct 8 Tues, Nov 18
Wed, Jan 8 Wed, Feb 11 Thurs, Mar 10 Tues, April 7 Wed, May 20
All meetings are held at 8:00pm in the Yantacaw Auditorium unless otherwise notified. Our objective is to keep the meetings to one hour in length. I have below a short description of how the meetings proceed. We absolutely have a casual atmosphere but do need to follow a certain protocol to keep the meetings effective and timely.
Coffee and snacks are provided by our Hospitality Committee. If you have something you would like to bring, please let Colleen Moraski 973-667-3741, macandcheese at optonline.net know. Treats are always welcome - just give us a heads up to adjust the shopping list.
The Meeting:
-As you walk in please pick up an Agenda (a list specific to that meeting listing items on to be discussed or presented), Meeting Minutes (from the previous meeting) and sign in (there should be a sign in sheet near the handouts).
-Grab a cup of coffe and a snack, have a seat, socialize a bit, get comfy.
-Our procedures are based on Robert's Rules of Order, a common guide of rules to run meetings fairly and effectively. This in mind, the meeting begins when it is officially called to order by the co-president(s).
-A motion will be made to accept the minutes of the previous meeting and then seconded. Each item is then reported or presented as listed in the agenda. Questions will be taken throughout. In the interest of time, a discussion may be postponed or directed to a specific party to be discussed separately. Please do not be discouraged or in any way insulted as the issue can be brought up again to the general assembly at another date after further clarification.
-As time allows, the floor will be offered to the assembly.
Please also remember there is a PTO mailbox in the office. Any comments or suggestions can be sent through the backpacks to us with your contact information or anonymously if you prefer. We do not know which teacher sent it or which student it came from unless you write it on the envelope or letter. Simply put PTO on the envelope.
Thank you so much for your interest and support!
Laura Fontanals and Francesca Roselli
Yantacaw PTO Co-Presidents
